• Program to facilitate the classification procedure

    Engineer Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Mutairi Undersecretary of the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs of contracters Classification detected  the presence of some impediments to the work relating to contractors, notably not to inform them of the system and regulations and the requirements of classification contained in the agency's website and delayed response to the observations by the contractors.

    Al-Mutairi said during a meeting with members of the construction sector in the region organized by the Asharqia Chamber represented by the contractors Committee on Saturday, June 16, 2012 in the main headquarters that some contractors delayed to make a reclassification request until after the expiry of certificate of classification of the contractor and the failure to meet the full notes when reply in addition to non-completion of requirements for office visits and private book-keeping and documentation in English.

    Al-Mutairi said during the meeting that steps must be followed to avoid delay in the classification of contractors which are visiting the website continuously and take advantage of its contents prior to the application and ensure the provision of classification file  in an integrated manner and to respond to any comments written to the contractor on the site urgently.

    He explained that the number of institutions and construction companies, ranked in the ministry until last May are 2485 companies whereas the number of ranked companies during 2011 were about 589 companies. He noted that Deputy Ministry seeks to activate the electronic transactions and direct quickly to work within the system of e-government.

    For his part, Board Member and Chairman of the contracting cometti Saleh bin Abdullah Al-Sayed,discribed the construction sector in the Kingdom with a stone corner in the process of growth and development, with a contribution in GDP at constant prices by about 60.4 billion riyals, representing 6.9% of the value of GDP Total in constant prices in 2010.
     
    He said that the construction sector is the largest inclusive for employment in the private sector, which absorbs more than 3 million workers, representing about 43.2% of the total number of employees in all major economic activities in the private sector enterprises in the Kingdom.
     
    He noted that the issue of classification of contractors represents an important focus of the axes of the service sector, and noted that the number of classified contractors in the eastern region does not exceed 300 contractors work only  13% of the total number of classified contractors in the Kingdom which is below our expectations in the region which is one of the most important economic  castles in the Kingdom.
